BERA Doctoral Fellowship success
Posted on 6 July 2022
Congratulations to Sarah Clayton who has been awarded the BERA doctoral fellowship.
Sarah has been awarded the fellowship to undertake a study on ‘Teacher conceptions regarding threshold concepts for climate change, and the treatment of these in school curricula' in the University of York Science Education Group, supervised by Lynda Dunlop.
Sarah's experience in science teaching and curriculum development within secondary schools have led her to develop an interest in the gap between evidence-based research and the experience of students and teachers in schools, particularly regarding pressing global socio-scientific issues such as climate change.
Sarah became a secondary science teacher through the Teach First Leadership Development Programme and has taught science in schools in Coventry, Manchester and Telford over the last nine years, as well as taking on a number of additional roles, most recently, curriculum development lead for Science.
