Dr Clémentine Beauvais launches The Edinburgh Companion to Children's Literature

The Edinburgh Companion to Children's Literature, co-edited by Clémentine Beauvais (Lecturer in English in Education at York) and Professor Maria Nikolajeva, of the University of Cambridge

The Edinburgh Companion to Children's Literature, co-edited by Clémentine Beauvais (Lecturer in English in Education at York) and Professor Maria Nikolajeva, of the University of Cambridge, was launched on Friday 19th January at Homerton College, Cambridge.

The Edinburgh Companion to Children's Literature contains 29 newly-commissioned chapters by major figures in the field of children's literature criticism internationally. The volume is resolutely forward-looking, with some of the most audacious contemporary perspectives in the field represented in an 'Unmapped territories' section - from Evolutionary Criticism to Critical Plant Studies.

Professor Kimberley Reynolds, of Newcastle University, said:

Dr Clémentine Beauvais is the author of a monograph on children's literature theory, The Mighty Child: Time and Power in Children's Literature (John Benjamins, 2015), and of a large number of articles on children's literature theory and criticism. Professor Maria Nikolajeva is one of the most influential children's literature scholars in the world, and the author most recently of Reading for Learning: Cognitive Approaches to Children's Literature.
