For many a generation Man here thy truth has sought,
And to thy greater glory with hand and brain has wrought,
And now we too would praise thee, thy knowledge still pursue,
With earnest high endeavour in all we say or do.
The thinker and the fighter, the man of word and deed,
Who laboured here before us, called on thee in their need,
Grant us, we now beseech thee, that with the strength of youth,
We too may learn the beauty and the glory of thy truth.
