Starting off with a staged-reading led by The Playhouse Lab (University of Leeds), scholars and practitioners came together to share their passion for Renaissance and early modern drama. Presenters delivered papers on a variety of subjects including adaptation, language, collaboration, politics and social change, and tech and design. Rounding-off the day, and in collaboration with the York International Shakespeare Festival, keynote speaker Ben Crystal, delivered an entertaining and enlightening talk on “Speaking the Bright and Beautiful English of Shakespeare.”
