The Cabinet of Curiosities is delighted to host a workshop in which Mr. Darren Royston will give a presentation on early modern dancing and the ways in which dancing was conducted and their meanings, implications and perceptions. It will be followed by audience participation and interaction.
Mr. Darren Royston of the Royal Academy of Dramatic Arts is Artistic Director of Nonsuch History & Dance, Chairman of the Early Dance Council and a professional choreographer. He recently appeared on a BBC special: “Dancing Cheek to Cheek”. His research “Filthie groping and uncleane handlings: an examination of touching moments in dance of court and courtship” was recently published in The Senses in Early Modern England, 1558-1660 (Manchester University Press, 2015).
