Disseminating Dress: Britain and the Fashion World

Disseminating Dress is a three day conference which explores how ideas and knowledge about dress have been shared, sought and communicated throughout history. In bringing together academics, students, curators, and industry professionals, this conference is an invitation to investigate how people think and have thought about fashion and clothing.

From the London of the Blitz to Renaissance Italy, men and women have both sought out and been instructed in what they could or should wear, forming personal, social and cultural aesthetics, as well as driving trade and mercantile success. This conference takes a broad view of disseminating dress throughout history, drawing on work from a wide array of disciplines and professional viewpoints.
