Speaker(s): Linda Porter, Historian and Author
Linda Porter received her BA and DPhil in History at York, where she studied under the direction of two inspirational professors, Gerald Aylmer and Gwyn A. Williams. On completing her postgraduate work she moved to New York, where she lived for almost a decade, lecturing at Fordham University and the City University of New York. Since returning to England she has had a varied career, working as a journalist and acting as senior adviser on international public relations for a major telecommunications company, but she has always stayed close to her roots as a historian. In 2004 she won the Biographers Club/Daily Mail prize which launched her new career as an author. Her publications include Mary Tudor: The First Queen (2007) and Katherine the Queen: The Remarkable Life of Katherine Parr (2010).
