Telling Dreams: Oneiric Circulation in Early Modern New France

The paper will discuss the dreams of Huron, Algonkin, Jesuit and Ursuline people in 17th-c. Canada.

Mary Baine Campbell is Professor of English, Brandeis University

Her research interests at present include 1) the early-modern history of dreams and dream theory in light of developments in both representation (including poetry) and natural philosophy or science; 2) utopia, past and present.

Areas of expertise: Medieval and early modern literature and culture. Poetry. Travel writing. History of science.
