Peter Mazur will explore 'The Roman Curia and "Works" of Conversion Under Gregory XIII', exploring the ways in which the Roman curia developed a number of colleges and hospitals designed to effect conversion and present apostasy, whilst Abi Shinn will speak on 'Building Narrative and Finding Faith: the Geographies of Conversion', demonstrating how central movement in time and space is to a range of early modern conversion narratives. They will be joined by Emily Michelson from the University of St Andrews who will give a paper on 'Catholic and Jewish Audiences in the Preaching of Marcellino Evangelista', explaining the remarkable sermons of one conversionary preacher in early modern Rome. Helen Smith will give a related paper on 'Divine Matter: Godly Materialism and the Early Modern Book'. The full SRS programme will be published in the new year.
