Peter Mazur described the personal histories of some unusual converts, who negotiated (more or less successfully!) the changing religious landscape of Italy and its neighbours, in a lecture on 'Improbable Lives: a One-Eyed Soldier, a Dervish, and other Converts in Early Modern Rome'.
