Rhys is a Research Fellow on the Youth LIVES project, working within both CRD and the Stockholm Environment Institute. She attained her PhD in Materials Science at The University of Manchester, followed by a fellowship in Biomedical Engineering. She has wider teaching experience and research interests in Youth Mental Health, Sustainable Development, and Equality, Inclusion, and Diversity, and has worked on a range of projects relating to innovative STEM communication to young people, including Women of Science, a campaign she founded in 2016 and continues to direct.
