Diarmuid is a health economist and pharmacist with a particular interest in cancer care. His PhD was in the field of cancer survivorship with a focus on HPV-related head and neck cancers. He was a postdoctoral Cancer Prevention Fellow at the National Cancer Institute (US) where he published on the association of leisure-time physical activity with healthcare expenditures, childhood neuroblastoma and cost-of-care methodology.
His current research at CRD is focussed on various aspects of health technology assessment. Building on his experience at Newcastle University, he will continue to be involved in performing single technology appraisals for NICE.
