The York Evidence Synthesis Group (York ESG) is one of nine UK-based research groups commissioned by the National Institute of Health and Care Research (NIHR) to deliver a range of evidence syntheses addressing knowledge gaps prioritised by healthcare, public health and social care stakeholders.
The York ESG is well positioned to deliver world-leading evidence syntheses that consider effectiveness, cost-effectiveness and equity. As part of our work we employ and evaluate knowledge exchange strategies both to undertake meaningful stakeholder engagement as well as to support the dissemination and implementation of evidence into policy and practice.
Our commissioned projects draw on the extensive methodological and content expertise of the team at CRD. We are experienced in applying evidence synthesis methods in a broad range of health conditions, including child health, mental health, public health and, through our partnership with colleagues in the York Social Policy Research Unit, social care. With particular methodological expertise in complex quantitative synthesis including network meta-analysis (NMA) and individual participant data (IPD) meta-analysis, our methodological strengths cover the full range of evidence synthesis approaches, including evidence mapping, overviews and scoping reviews, diagnostic technology assessment, mixed methods reviews, economic analysis/modelling, and health technology assessment.
Our evidence syntheses support policy-making, decision-making and patient and client care, as well as helping to highlight research gaps and future research needs.
