Comparing anti-sickness medicines for preventing chemotherapy-induced nausea and vomiting in children and young people

Posted on 28 May 2024

CRD Research Fellow Ruth Walker will be presenting the initial findings of her PhD at the Multinational Association of Supportive Care in Cancer (MASCC) conference in Lille this June.

The findings are from a Bayesian Network Meta-Analysis (NMA) that compares anti-sickness medicines for preventing chemotherapy-induced nausea and vomiting in children and young people. To date the evidence base has only been synthesised using meta-analysis, meaning not all anti-sickness medicines have been compared to one another. Results of the NMA broadly support current recommendations in clinical practice guidelines but identify a specific medicine that may be useful to prevent nausea, an important outcome for patients.
