Making Accessible Player Experiences
Digital games are a huge part of our modern culture with over 50% of people in the UK playing games on a regular basis.
However, some games fail to consider players who might have disabilities and as a consequence exclude some players from playing. Members of the group have worked with The AbleGamers Foundation and the players that they support to better understand the needs of players with disabilities. As well as developing new processes to help games companies work with players with disability, we have also developed a design approach called APX Accessible Player Experiences which is a combination of design tools and training courses. Ablegamers have trained over 92 developers in a wide range of games studios. APX has been adopted by many games companies such as Microsoft, Sony and Naughty Dog.
