The Student Support team in Computer Science will formally notify you of your results through e:Vision. This will take place after the Board of Examiners (BoE) has met and seen your marks for the year.
Board of Examiners' meetings are 'closed': that is, there are no students present. They consist of teaching members of the department, and external examiners. For more information, go to the University's Guide to Assessment.
Provisional assessment results are made available within 25 working days of each assessment. We will send a message to you via the VLE to let you know when your results are ready. We will also keep you updated via the VLE on occasions where there may be adjustments or delays to your results.
After the asessesment period in Semester One, Board of Examiners' meetings take place to confirm your marks (Module Assessment Boards).
After the assessment period in Semester Two, the Board of Examiners meets again to confirm your results via a Module Assesssment Boards. After these have taken place, Board of Examiners' Progression and Award Boards then take place in order to make recommendations about what your marks mean for your programme (Programme Assessment Boards).
Generally you can expect to see your programme results on e:Vision within ten working days of the main examination boards' meetings taking place. It is important to note that all marks remain provisional until they are accepted by the Board of Examiners.
We will notify undergraduate and postgraduate students by email if you are required to select resits. Usually this by email from the CS Exams team (cs-exams@york.ac.uk) within ten working days of your Programme Assessment Board.
Please ensure you check your University email account and e:Vision regularly around end of year results to meet the reply deadlines indicated. We strongly recommend that you discuss your resit choices with your academic supervisor. Students who have complicated resit decisions to make may also receive an email from the CS Exams team with further advice.
After sits and resits, the Board of Examiners will meet again to revisit your complete mark profile.
Feedback and provisional marks from Open Assessments can be viewed within 25 working days on the Teaching Portal.
In-hall examinations are not being held in 2023/24.
In years where in-hall examinations were held, we offered our students the opportunity to view their exam scripts, together with the question paper and model solutions, in order to gain individual feedback on their exam performance. Script review sessions are scheduled in 30 minute slots.
Students are not allowed to take photos, or to have their phones with them during the sessions. The scripts cannot be removed from the room. We will, however, provide students with pens and paper on request. Students are not permitted to use their own writing equipment, and any student seen tampering with their script will be investigated for academic misconduct.
