Board of Studies
Purpose
The Department of Computer Science Board of Studies (BoS) has overall responsibility for the student experience, teaching and learning, and for quality assurance of all programmes of study offered by the Department.
The Board of Studies meets three times during each academic year. Its membership includes staff who contribute to the undergraduate and postgraduate programmes in the Department, and student representatives who attend the meeting for the main agenda items.

Terms of Reference
- Designs and organises the Department's taught and research programmes;
- Develops and monitors methods of teaching and assessment;
- Supervises the academic progress of undergraduate and postgraduate students;
- Approves special aspects of programmes, such as a student's own suggestion for a project or a proposed sandwich placement;
- Approves research students' progress reports;
- Receives examination results, resit and progression recommendations from the Board of Examiners, and makes recommendations to the Senate;
- Oversees Teaching and Research Committees.
Quorum
One third of the total membership.
