Life at university can be stressful, whether you are a student or a staff member. Achieving and maintaining good mental health, resilience in the face of stress and a good life-work (or study) balance is difficult but very important.
The department aims to create a studying and working environment that is as stress-free as possible and to support students and staff in their mental health and life-work/study balance.
If you have concerns, your first point of call is your personal tutor. They can discuss many aspects of studying, how to deal with deadlines, workload and general stress (https://www.york.ac.uk/students/studying/progress/supervisor/)
If you feel in need of immediate support due to a crisis of any kind, and your personal tutor is not available, please contact CS Reception (office hours) or Reception in the Ron Cooke Hub (24 hours, 7 days a week); they are all available to help.
Staff can contact their line manager or the current Head of Department if they would like to confidentially discuss any issues around wellbeing, mental health, stress or life-work balance issues.
