The Department aims to be a welcoming and supportive place to study and work for everyone. We work to all support students and staff to achieve their full potential and a good work-life balance. This is a constant learning process, and we welcome suggestions as to how to improve our learning, teaching, work and social environment. If you have comments or suggestions, please contact Katrina Attwood, Chair of the Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Committee.
The Department is committed to the Athena SWAN Charter for women in science, an initiative for the advancement of women's careers in higher education and research in the STEMM (science, technology, engineering, medicine and mathematics) disciplines, and received a Bronze Athena SWAN award in October 2020 in recognition of our work to promote gender equality. We have undertaken to make significant progress on many issues of equality, diversity and inclusion, and we are looking forward to working with our community to achieve the challenges we've set ourselves. #EqualityatYork @EqualityatYork
