Communal areas and quiet spaces
Our communal areas are open to all Goodricke College members to gather in and enjoy. Our quiet spaces are for students to escape the business of University life and focus on self-regulation and self-care.
Relax in the range of comfy seating, connect to the wifi and make use of the amenities listed below.
Goodricke Junior Common Room
The Junior Common Room (JCR) is a great space for Goodricke members to socialise and relax.
Inside you can play pool, table tennis, table football and darts. There is also a piano, a widescreen TV and projector, and some gaming consoles.
The JCR can be booked for small personal events. Email goodricke@york.ac.uk for booking enquiries.
The Clarbour Room
The Clarbour Room is for Goodricke students to meet, socialise and unwind in. It's also where the majority of college events are held.
Inside, you'll find a widescreen TV and projector, a selection of board games, a fridge, microwave and kettle (along with tea and coffee sachets) and a piano.
There are also two networked computers and a networked printer nearby in the nucleus.
The Wellbeing Room
Provides a quiet space for socialising or to relax in. Inside you'll find puzzle books, colouring books, jigsaws, knitting/crochet resources, a TV with firestick, support information noticeboard and a small, but cosy, book nook.
Sensory Room
Offers students the chance to escape and self-regulate away from the business of University life.
The Room can be used in daylight or dimmed with the blackout blinds, and includes a star projector with various white noise settings, bubble wall, ear defenders, sensory resources, weighted blankets and a rocking and bean bag chair.
Quiet Study Space
Includes 3 desktop PCs with webcams and headphones, one movable standing desk, whiteboard, and an ottoman with blankets, cushions, ear defenders and fidget toys.
Quiet Gym
Access to the gym is on a referral (including self-referral) basis and provides a space for anyone who might experience barriers to using a mainstream gym. It is free to use and includes a walking pad, punch bag, rowing machine, stationary bikes and various weights, fit balls and mats.
