Alex is a PhD student supervised by Dr. John Moore and Professor Simon Duckett. His research is focussed on phosphine oxide photoinitiators and their role in Inkjet formulations. This involves investigating the photochemical processes of these photoinitiators using NMR spectroscopy, steady-state and time-resolved Infrared and UV-Vis spectroscopy, and density functional theory calculations.
The main aim of the project is to gain an understanding of properties and photochemical mechanisms of new-generation polymeric photoinitiators versus traditional monomeric photoinitiators, including the effects of additives and other materials that may be present in Inkjet formulations.
