Peter attended an event at The Royal Society in London to launch his industry fellowship with AstraZeneca. Here he is in action presenting the fragment elaboration project.
- Congratulations to Paul who passed his PhD viva. Paul left the group to take up a position with Sygnature. We wish him well for the future.

At the York University Students Union (YUSU) Excellence Awards, Peter received the prestigious ‘Teacher of the Year’ Award – the student’s commented:
“He is an incredibly engaging lecturer that never fails to amuse, entertain and enlighten. He is an icon in the Department!”

- The O’Brien group attended the RSC Heterocyclic & Synthesis Group’s Grasmere Meeting, with several groups members presenting posters. As Chairperson of the group, Peter hosted the event and gave a lighthearted after dinner speech. Here is Peter pictured with PhD alumni from the group, Jianhui Huang and Susannah Coote.

Congratulations to Nico who won a runners-up prize at the SCI's Regional Postgraduate Symposium whch was held in York on 8th April. Here he is in action!
- Welcome to Rebecca Appiani from Milan who joins the group as an Erasmus visiting researcher for the next 5 months.

Almost all of the group presented posters at the RSC Organic Division North East Regional Meeting held in York this year. Here's Andres, Giordaina and Alex proudly presenting their posters on 3-D medicinal chemistry building blocks and sulfoximines.
- Nico, Ho and Tom (Unsworth group) went to the '2nd Pharmaron Symposium on Chemistry for Life Sciences' at Pharmaron's Hoddersdon site and met up with Taylor group Alumni Matt and John.
- Congratulations to Will who passed his viva with minor corrections!
- Peter gave a research seminar at the University of Basel on 'New routes to nitrogen, oxygen, and sulfur heterocycles: exploring 3D pharmaceutical space'.
