We offer two single crystal X-ray diffractometers with Mo & Cu sources available for general use.

They can be used alongside the York Structural Biology Laboratory (YSBL) X-ray crystallography instrumentation providing valuable tools for the structural analysis of macromolecules.

We also have instruments for structural analysis of powders, liquid crystals and their compositional analysis.

What problems can we solve?

  • Determine the atomic arrangement of a crystal
  • Determination of the structure of complex molecules
  • Determination of the molecular structure and atomic arrangement of active pharmaceutical ingredients, proteins and other macromolecules
  • Non-invasive compositional analysis and compositional mapping of objects

Services

  • Single crystal x-ray diffraction (scXRD)
  • Powder x-ray diffraction (PXRD)
  • Small-angle x-ray scattering (SAXS)
  • X-ray fluorescence (XRF)

Technical specifications

  • Two X-ray diffractometers (XRD) available for general use, a single-crystal Oxford Diffraction SuperNova XRD with dual Mo and Cu sources and a Rigaku Synergy-S.
  • Panalytical Aeris powder XRD equipped with a Cu source.
  • The York Structural Biology Laboratory (YSBL) X-ray facility houses a Rigaku XtaLAB Synergy-R ‘flow’ diffractometer primarily used for determination of protein structures.
  • Horiba X-ray fluorescence (XRF) Spectrometer.
