The talk will look at how the IPCC report employed simple climate model emulators informed by latest atmospheric chemistry and physics understanding to help make its global warming projections. Atmospheric chemistry processes affect both climate feedbacks and the causes of climate change through radiative forcing. The talk will summarise the IPCC assessment in these areas and discuss how this latest assessment both feeds into our understanding of projections and also affects international policy negotiations through commitments such as the methane pledge made at the climate summit in Glasgow.
