Event details

The development of chemistry curricula that effectively facilitate the development of both subject expertise and transferable skills remains a challenge. A number of models have been designed that allow the integration of transferable skills in the core of the chemistry curriculum. This talk will discuss strategies that can be used to equip graduates with the skills, experiences and subject expertise necessary to meet the challenges of the modern workplace and includes some discussion of the evidence of impact of these approaches.

The talk will also include details of the development of a standardised tool designed to allow academics to measure conceptual understanding of core chemical principles with the aim of measuring the impact of curricular interventions and monitoring student development.

The seminar will be led by Dr Dylan Williams from the University of Birmingham.
