Profile

Biography

Sakshi Mohan is a Research Fellow in the Global Health team at the Centre for Health Economics, University of York. She is interested in the advancement and application of economic evaluation methods to inform healthcare policy choices and resource allocation, drawing from health economics, operations research, epidemiology and data science. Her research includes methods to inform health benefits package design and their translation to policy; use of large health system models to inform system-level policy choices in healthcare with a particular focus on drug supply chains; estimating the ability-to-pay for medical technologies under development; methods to guide efficient and equitable allocation of healthcare resources. She is a member of the Thanzi La Onse (TLO) research programme and a contributor to the TLO Model.

Prior to joining CHE, she worked as an economist at the Ministry of Health (MOH) in Malawi through the Overseas Development Institute (ODI) Fellowship Scheme. In this role, Sakshi was closely involved in a range of health financing activities at the MOH, including intra-ministerial budget prioritisation, design and adoption of a district resource allocation formula based on healthcare needs, design of sub-national budgeting guidelines for the implementation of national strategic priorities, aid coordination activities, and the development of an investment case for the improvement of Reproductive, Maternal, Newborn, Child and Adolescent Health (RMNCAH) outcomes in Malawi.

Her work has contributed to the Vaccine Value Profiles (VVPs) initiative of the WHO Product Development for Vaccines Advisory Committee (PDVAC), the Global Fund’s 7th Replenishment Investment Case (2022-2025), and UNAIDS’ guidelines for developing and reviewing a National Strategic Plan for HIV.

Sakshi holds an MA in International Economic Policy (Global Health) from Sciences Po, Paris and a BSc (Hons) in Economics from St. Xavier’s College, Kolkata.
