New Drugs, Fair Prices: Managing the Pharmaceutical Innovation Ecosystem for Sustainable and Affordable New Medicines

Abstract: 

This presentation addresses the important question of how we might get the innovative new drugs we need at prices we can afford. It takes wholly new perspective on this impassioned but currently sterile debate by drawing on interviews with 70 experts across the domain. It describes how we might balance the 7 habitats of the pharmaceutical innovation ecosystem by enacting a comprehensive set of sociological and technological changes to achieve sustainable and affordable pharmaceutical innovation.

Biography:

Brian D Smith is an author, academic and advisor who has worked in and studied the life sciences industry for 45 years. A visiting professor at Bocconi, Hertfordshire and UCL, he has published 8 major books and over 300 articles and papers.
