Zecharias is a Research Fellow in Health and Social Care Policy at the Centre for Health Economics, having joined in November 2022. He has lectured at Debre Berhan University, worked at the Ethiopian Development Bank, and contributed to data analysis for the research and impact assessment team at the International Fund for Agricultural Development.
His primary research focus lies in the application of Econometric and Microeconometric methods to evaluate health sector payment and financing reforms, quality improvement incentives, insurance arrangements, or other health sector policy reforms. Zecharias also has a keen interest in analysing inequality in health and healthcare, striving for more equitable outcomes.
Zecharias earned a BA in Economics from Debre Berhan University, Ethiopia, July 2015 and obtained a master's degree in Applied Economics from the University of Verona, Italy, in September 2019. He recently obtained a PhD degree in Economics from the University of Padua, Italy, in May 2023.
