Biography

Refaya Rashmin is a PhD student affiliated with Economic Evaluation (TEEHTA) based at the Centre for Health Economics, University of York. Her research, supervised by James Lomas, Marta Soares and Prof Mark Sculpher, is focused on economic evaluation of healthcare interventions by means of estimating opportunity cost of health policies.

She holds an MSc in Economics for Development (Merit) from Oxford Department of International Development (a.k.a. Queen Elizabeth House), University of Oxford, an MSS (Economics) and BSS (Hons) in Economics from University of Dhaka. She is also a Commonwealth Scholarship Alumnus (2018-19).

Refaya is a Lecturer (on study leave) at the Institute of Health Economics, University of Dhaka since November 2016. In her early career, she was a research associate at the Centre for Policy Dialogue, Dhaka, for about two years where her research was focused on international financial flows for development among Southern countries. Gradually her research interest aligned with empirical work on evaluating the usage of overseas or local funds for healthcare and social development interventions. Apart from that, Refaya is passionate about travelling and debating.
