Overview

Ana's research focuses on the development and application of decision analysis methods to inform Health Technology Assessment (HTA). Since 2012, Ana’s research has contributed extensively to the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) Technology Assessment Reviews (TAR) programme, and she regularly leads projects in this programme. Furthermore, Ana has collaborated with HTA agencies in Portugal and Colombia to develop HTA methods guidelines. Her key research interest is on the economic evaluation of diagnostic and prognostic tests, but her research encompasses a wide range of areas over the years. These include distributional cost-effectiveness analysis, economic evaluation of mental health and social care interventions, economic evaluation to support local decision making and the use of routine data for economic evaluation.

Ana has taught in several short courses on the economic evaluation of healthcare technologies, as well as modules in the health economics distance learning programme of the University of York. She is currently part of the faculty for the Online Advanced Methods of Economic Evaluation for Health Technology Assessment Workshop.
