This talk will highlight the issues around such comparisons, signpost relevant research/methods on the subject, and issues to be aware of based on previous work, and painful experiences.

Dr Anthony Hatswell, Chief Scientific Officer, Delta Hat

Anthony Hatswell is statistician and health economist. After his BSc Economics & MSc Health Economics at York, he worked in the pharmaceutical industry before moving to consulting in 2010 – completing a part time Statistics PhD at UCL. He founded Delta Hat in 2017 who specialised in technical evidence based medicine. Following the acquisition of Delta Hat in 2024, he has moved to the role of Chief Scientific Officer, inputs to the SMC NDC as a statistician, and is a former NICE IPAC member.

His work and research is in the area of applied statistics, and focusses on the estimation of cross-trial comparative effectiveness, particularly in uncontrolled studies (aka single arm trials).
