Central Hall refurbishment
As the flagship building at the heart of the University, bringing Central Hall up to date with a series of refurbishments is key to ensuring it would stay fit for purpose for years to come.
The aim of the project is to provide a multi-use, flexible space offering enhanced facilities for a wide range of users as well as improving accessibility.
The work completed so far is:
- Tailoring the auditorium to allow teaching of large cohorts of up to 500 students.
- Enhancing the space so more student events and performances, as well as graduation and open days, are able to take place with both audiences and performers accommodated much more comfortably.
- Improving accessibility throughout the building including replacing the lift.
- Enhancing the external area
- A full refurbishment/replacement of electrical and mechanical systems as well as installing new windows to make the building more pleasant in all weathers.
The next stage is to update the furniture in Central Hall, which will take place between December 2024 and February 2025.
