The Centre for Applied Human Rights hosts each year up 10 human rights defenders (HRDs) from across the world on its Protective Fellowship Scheme for HRDs at Risk. The HRDs take part in CAHR's classes, providing a unique opportunity for our MA and LLM students to learn directly from grassroots activists working on the front line.
CAHR's MA and LLM students take part in a placement at a human rights NGO as part of their degree programme. The placement takes place in either South Africa (for the MA), Malaysia (for the LLM) or York (for either MA or LLM students). In this video, CAHR's students tell about their placement experiences in November-December 2014.

Housing conditions in Cape Town - MA student field work
