The Centre is delighted to have worked with a range of stakeholders in the city to launch the York as a Human Rights City project.
A pilot for the project recently received funding from the Joseph Rowntree Foundation and the Joseph Rowntree Charitable Trust.
Among the activities planned for the coming year are a human rights festival; an exhibition and set of events looking at the city's history of chocolate manufacturing, and its links to human rights; and a conference designed to share best practice on ways in which the city can become a means of promoting human rights, with a particular focus on learning from European cities which have launched related initiatives.
