Sam Pegram Scholarship launched
A scholarship dedicated to the memory of Sam Pegram will support students to make a positive difference for the rights of people on the move.
The scholarship is generously provided by The Sam Pegram Humanitarian Foundation in his memory. It provides tuition fees, accommodation, travel costs, and a monthly living stipend to overseas student to study for an LLM in International Human Rights Law and Practice.
An alumnus of the LLM, Sam Pegram worked for the Norwegian Refugee Council in Geneva. He tragically died in the 2019 Ethiopian Airlines Boeing 737 Max crash, en route to Nairobi.
Before attending York, Sam spent two years volunteering and working for humanitarian NGOs in Jordan. He was a wonderful presence in the classroom, and committed, thoughtful and reflexive in his fieldwork. Sam was deeply committed to humanitarianism, the rights of people on the move, and social justice in a broad sense.
Through this scholarship, others will have the opportunity to study on this course and make a positive difference for the rights of people on the move and human rights more generally.
