Watchlist and The Generating Respect Hub at the Centre for Applied Human Rights Announce New Strategic Partnership
Watchlist on Children and Armed Conflict and the Generating Respect Hub at the University of York’s Centre for Applied Human Rights (CAHR) are pleased to announce their strategic partnership for policy and practice-driven research.
The collaboration follows the successful publication of the jointly produced brief, “Children and Armed Conflict: Legal Glossary on Abduction and Deportation”. This publication is the first in the new Children and Armed Conflict Publications Series, which will address topical issues relevant for international and domestic policymakers, field practitioners, civil society organizations and the media working on the protection of children in armed conflict.
Watchlist and the Generating Respect Hub will also continue their collaborative relationship as project partners within the Beyond Compliance Consortium – a new research programme on the prevention and reduction of need and harm in war, funded through a £5million grant from the UK’s Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office.
Ezequiel Heffes, Director of Watchlist, said: “York’s Generating Respect Hub is a platform of knowledge exchange and impactful, timely research on humanitarian norms-compliance. Through this strategic partnership, Watchlist on Children and Armed Conflict and its network of members can consolidate and strengthen its collaborative and research-informed advocacy on behalf of children in war zones.”
Professor Ioana Cismas, Co-Director of CAHR, said: “The robust partnership between Watchlist and the Generating Respect Hub at CAHR reflects our joint commitment to cultivate applied research spanning disciplines, methodologies, and continents. From
“old” York to New York, we endeavour to raise the protection of international humanitarian and human rights law in armed conflicts across the globe.”
