New blog launched to mark World Neglected Tropical Diseases Day 2024
On World NTD Day, we were pleased to launch ‘The Politics of Neglected Disease: Surviving and Overcoming Neglect’ blog.
The blog forms part of a University of-York funded project led by Dr Himani Bhakuni at York Law School, with colleagues:
- Professor Ioana Cismas, Centre for Applied Human Rights, University of York
- Dr João Nunes, Universidad Pontificia Comillas
- Claire Jeantet, Inediz Reportages
- Alice Trotter, Centre for Applied Human Rights, University of York
The blog aims to foster a conversation on the politics of disease framing, focusing specifically on the World Health Organization’s list of Neglected Tropical Diseases (NTDs). Over the next twelve months, the blog will convene a group of interdisciplinary researchers, practitioners, and individuals with lived experiences of NTDs to share their thoughts on the politics of disease framing.
The first post from the project team was published on 30 January 2024, and sketches out their research agenda. They warmly invite anyone who wishes to contribute with a blog post or has an interest in learning more about the project to get in touch with the team.
