The Protective Writing Fellowship 2024 came to an end on the 14 July.

Before leaving York the three Writing Fellows shared their work and reflections on the fellowship with CAHR staff, Friends and other Fellows.

Rommel used his time on the fellowship to develop a new course, Philippine Literature and Human Rights, which will be offered at the University of the Philippines in the next academic year.

Aman’s research looked at the challenges faced by riot affected communities with a focus on accessibility of legal aid and the response of the human rights and legal movements.

Nandar spent the three months reflecting on, and writing about, her identity and role within the human rights movement.

After the individual presentations, the three fellows shared some common reflections on neocolonialism, and answered questions about their time in York.
