York Human Rights City - COVID-19

Posted on 17 April 2020

York Human Rights City Network plans to respond to the recently announced invitation to submit evidence to the Joint Committee on Human Rights Inquiry into the impact of the Government’s COVID-19 legislation.

The Parliamentary Joint Committee on Human Rights has launched an inquiry into the human rights implications of the recently passed Coronavirus Act, which swept away a number of current human rights protections.

The Committee released a call for evidence, seeking views on:

  • Which groups will be disproportionately affected by measures taken by the Government to address the COVID-19 pandemic?
  • What steps need to be taken to ensure that measures taken by the Government to address the COVID-19 pandemic are human rights compliant?
  • What will the impact of specific measures taken by Government to address the COVID-19 pandemic be on human rights in the UK?

YHRC has agreed to set up a system to collect and collate these submissions through email, survey monkey and telephone interviews. To take part in this submission please complete the following survey. Alternatively If you prefer to speak to someone in person, and would like to arrange an interview please email info@yorkhumanrights.org
