McDonald Moyo holds a Bachelor of Laws (LLB) and Master of Laws (LLM) from the University of the Western Cape (UWC). For 2 years, McDonald worked as a Graduate Lecturing Assistant at UWC’s Law Faculty teaching Constitutional Law. Following the completion of his studies in South Africa, He returned to Zimbabwe, where he has worked full-time in the civil society sector since 2018.
He is engaged in human rights work as a Programmes Lawyer for a local law-based organisation in Zimbabwe. McDonald has drafted legal position papers, opinions, submissions, press statements, and publications on various legal topics. He is also prominently involved in initiatives that target the provision of legal services to marginalised and indigent communities, including the delivery of rights literacy programs. In this regard, he has been responsible for the preparation of communication products aimed at ensuring knowledge and access to justice are explained in simple and effective ways to the most vulnerable.
He conducts research, advocacy and legal analysis on all aspects of human rights law in Zimbabwe, with a particular focus on constitutional law, and civil and political rights protection and remedies. He also shares an interest in Environmental law and Animal law.
