Abigail

Abigail is an independent journalist and member of PCIN (Independent journalists and Communicators from Nicaragua network) and a critical voice of the regime. She has regularly stood up against what was defined as crimes against humanity in 2018- political unrest which led to the killing of more than 320 civilians by state actors. She has kept reporting as a journalist human rights violation, corruption, misuse of public resources, etc in her investigative journalistic work. She has also been a key person in PCIN, supporting the evacuation of more than 50 journalists who fled to Costa Rica since May 2021. As a leading figure of PCIN she has been very exposed since 2020, as the Nicaraguan government has taken a more authoritarian turn (foreign agent law, cybercrime law, law against alleged treason against). Abigail is now also living in exile in Costa Rica.
