York Human Rights City Network - Draft findings for 2024 Indicator Report
Event details
The York Human Rights City Network will present the provisional findings of our ninth annual Human Rights Indicator Report.
At the event, we will discuss a series of indicators that measure the protection of our five priority rights: equality and non-discrimination, education, a decent standard of living, housing, and health and social care.
2024 has been a year of significant political change, both nationally and locally, with the installation of a new government in Westminster and the election of the first Mayor for York and North Yorkshire. Despite these changes, familiar issues have continued to dominate headlines, as the cost-of-living crisis has persisted in impacting the local community.
At the event, we will assess this impact, exploring efforts across the city to protect the human rights of York’s residents and identifying areas in which improvements could be made. We will examine whether York has made any progress in addressing its alarming gender pay gap, whether foodbank use in the city has continued to rise, and whether headway has been made in tackling hate crime.
We hope that the event provides a forum through which we can jointly discuss the protection of human rights in York and explore what can be done to further a human rights agenda in the city.
There will be a BSL interpreter for the event, and there will be the option to enable captions.
