The Centre for Global Health Histories has produced an exhibition entitled 'Tuberculosis: A Short History' and an accompanying Tuberculosis A Short History (PDF , 6,861kb) with the support of C2D2, the Wellcome Trust and the World Health Organisation.
The exhibition focuses on the history of TB’s impact and the efforts to control it from the nineteenth century up until the present day. It features a number of extraordinary and haunting images reproduced from the Wellcome Library image collection and the World Health Organization archives. The exhibition will be on show from 21st to 22nd of June at the York Medical Society rooms on Stonegate, York (09.30 am to 17.30 pm) and entrance is free. The exhibition’s opening night will also feature a guest lecture by Dr Helen Bynum, author of ‘Spitting Blood: The History of Tuberculosis’.
