The Art of Healing at York Festival of Ideas, June 2016

A lively afternoon at King’s Manor, sharing ideas and new artworks with a diverse audience!

Poet Christy Ducker, scientist Dimitris Lagos, and visual artist Kate Sweeney discussed their collaboration, to a warm and enthusiastic response. Members of the audience commented:

  • ‘Excellent! Highlighted the importance of communication between arts and science’
  • ‘You have broadened my perspective’
  • ‘I shall look at a scientist’s work very differently’
  • ‘This has been wonderful. Thank you!’
  • ‘That collaboration is definitely worthwhile’

Christy also facilitated a poetry writing workshop on the day, exploring creative connections between the science and art of healing. Participants produced some fantastic new work! Their poems will be showcased on this website in August.
