Promote your organisation to the talent of tomorrow. Increase your network and make meaningful connections.

We value mutually beneficial connections between our student community and your organisation. There are a number of ways in which you can access the talent and expertise of our students and graduates.

Our team are keen to discuss your involvement in the following opportunities:

Develop our students

Nurture emerging talent

We offer three leadership and development programmes for students to get involved in. Your support in these programmes can help students to build their strengths. Our programmes include:

  • York Strengths
This programme helps students to build confidence in their unique strengths, and identify careers that suit them.
  • York Award
This award demonstrates a student's employability, highlighting a proactive approach to their skills development and self-awareness.
  • York Leaders
This programme develops a student's leadership skills, giving them the chance to receive training from industry experts.

Help to offer opportunity to all

The University of York is committed to ensuring all our students, whatever their backgrounds, get access to world-class opportunities. Get involved with our bespoke programmes to share your experience and expertise and gain access to our diverse talent pool.

Run development and preparation sessions

Run sessions and develop meaningful connections with our students. Sessions could include:

  • Skills development sessions
Support our students to develop their strengths and attributes such as commercial awareness, critical thinking and problem solving.
  • Employer-led challenges
Set real-life business problems for groups of students to tackle and present solutions to over a defined timescale.
  • Recruitment preparation sessions
Help students understand what you are looking for in applications, interviews and assessment centres. Topics we encourage employers to offer include personal brand, video interviews, networking and resilience.
  • One-to-one sessions
Meet small groups of students or individuals to review applications and CVs, or conduct interviews for your graduate roles.

Provide interview questions

We use a platform called Shortlist.me to give our students the chance to practise with a mock interview. Provide questions, instil confidence in our students, and be a featured employer.

Promote your brand

You can promote your organisation to our community of over 20,000 students in the following ways:

Attend a fair

Promote your organisation and connect with our high-calibre students at our large-scale careers fairs.

Site visits

Open up your working environment, in person or virtually, to help students understand what it would be like to work with you.

Share experiences of working life

Our students really value candid insights into working life. Provide content and gain exposure on our careers blog (hosted on our Handshake site) or podcast. We particularly value content from any employees that graduated from the University of York.

Create an ad campaign with our Students’ Union

The University of York Students’ Union (York SU) is at the heart of student activity on campus, catering to over 20,000 students and over 200 student societies. See York SU's media pack (yorksu.org) and discover how they can help you to deliver a successful ad campaign via a range of digital platforms and opportunities.

Recruit brand managers and ambassadors

If you recruit a student brand manager or ambassador, please provide them with our guidance for student brand managers (Google Doc).
