Course overview
Our professional coaching programme will equip you with the skills and confidence to support individual learning, development and growth. You'll work with our encouraging tutors, who will supervise your coaching practice sessions and share expert insights.
Throughout your course, you'll benefit from our exceptional teaching, which is underpinned by the latest innovations in coaching theory.
Delivery
This course is taught in-person at the University of York. You'll have five days of training, as well as two days of coaching supervision and tutorials.
Accreditation
This programme is accredited by the Chartered Management Institute. You'll have the option to gain a Level 5 award in Professional Coaching Practice after meeting all requirements.
Course content
Throughout your course, you'll enhance your ability to manage stakeholder relationships, communicate with impact and problem solve. Taught modules will give you an in-depth grasp of the principles of professional coaching.
- Module one
Learn how coaching can positively impact organisational success. You'll be taught how diverse coaching strategies can impact people in different ways. Develop a broader understanding of workplace challenges and how to effectively coach a variety of people.
- Module two
Put theory into action and understand how to successfully build trust and rapport with others. Engage in practice coaching sessions and cultivate lasting change in your organisation. Identify the role of supervision in coaching, and discuss emerging practices including systemic coaching.

Tutorials and supervisions
You'll be taught in a small group through a mixture of tutorials and supervisions. Our approach to teaching will provide you with the knowledge, opportunities, and support you need to ensure effective coaching practice and success. You'll also be able to discuss assignments with your tutor in your tutorials.
Your supervision sessions will contain a blend of practical activities, including the opportunity to practice your coaching. Following a reflective coaching model, you'll keep a coaching journal to regularly reflect on your experience and growth.
Assessment
You'll submit a 4,000 word assignment, which involves reflecting on the principals of professional coaching and understanding the process for contracting and delivering professional coaching.

Price: the average price is £1700 per person.

- membership of the Chartered Management Institute including CMI's Management Diagnostic tool, access to CMI's Management Direct which includes thousands of on demand resources, live streams, podcasts and webinars, CMI's Management mentoring scheme where you can receive trusted guidance from an experienced CMI Mentor, access to a mental health platform and access to CMI's Career Development Centre
- tutorials and supervisions with assigned tutors
