William Lazonick
William Lazonick is a Professor Emeritus of Economics at the University of Massachusetts Lowell and is co-founder and president of the Academic-Industry Research Network. He is also affiliated with the CNRS the research centre of theoretical and applied economics of Université Montesquieu Bordeaux IV. Previously, he has taught at Harvard University, Columbia University, INSEAD, University of Tokyo, Harvard Business School, and University of Toronto. He was also a visiting scholar at Princeton. Lazonick studied at the University of Toronto, and London School of Economics, and did his PhD at Harvard University. He was also awarded an honorary doctorate from Uppsala University in 1991 for his work on the theory and history of economic development. He is the author or editor of many books, including 'Competitive Advantage of the Shop Floor', 'Business Organization and the Myth of the Market Economy', and recently 'Sustainable Prosperity in the New Economy?: Business Organization and High-tech Employment in the United States'. He has also published over 100 academic journal articles. His research has been funded by numerous governmental agencies and private foundations in Europe, the United States, and Japan. In recent years, much of his work has been translated into Chinese, among a number of other foreign languages.
