Dr Yujia Luo joined the School for Business and Society in April 2023 as a postdoctoral research associate. Her current research is part of the EPSRC project (EP/T024844/1) titled “A Multiscale Digital Twin-Driven Smart Manufacturing System for High Value-Added Products (SMART)”. In this role, her focus is on “multiscale business modelling and system analysis”, where she addresses the cutting-edge aspects of multiscale modelling within manufacturing systems. Her work assists high-value precision manufacturing industries in developing a multiscale digital twin-driven smart manufacturing system.
A significant part of her research role involves working closely with a multidisciplinary team, including technical experts, university partners, and industrial collaborators. She engages in data analysis and simulations to optimise both real-world and lab-based production processes. Additionally, she plays a pivotal role in conceptualising and integrating the digital twin framework throughout the various work packages of this collaborative project. She has consistently documented and shared her progress and insights through project reports, conference submissions, working papers, and presentations, thus contributing to a broader academic and industrial understanding.
Yujia’s research interests lie at the intersection of supply chain resilience and sustainability, the driving forces of supply chain resilience (e.g., individual factors), and the impacts of digitalisation on operations and supply chain management. In particular, her work emphasises the deployment of complex adaptive systems and social network theory.
She has employed a range of research methods: (a) regression analysis, (b) social network analysis, (c) data envelop analysis (DEA), (d) mathematical modelling, and (e) discrete event simulation and optimisation.
She has presented her research findings at academic conferences, such as the 20th International Conference of Manufacturing Research 2023, the 10th International Conference on Sustainable Design and Manufacturing 2023, the 29th EurOMA Conference 2022 in Berlin, the 35th BAM Conference 2021 (online), and the 3rd Conference on Sustainable Supply Chains, among others. She also collaborates with other scholars on research projects related to performance evaluation and optimisation in specific industries.
