Biography
Before my current role, I worked as a tutor and material developer for Pre-sessional, Pre-Master’s, and Pre-PhD courses at Oxford International Education Group (HE Department). Previously, I was an associate lecturer and lecturer at the University of Sussex, where I taught undergraduate and postgraduate Applied Linguistics modules, including Fundamentals of Linguistics, Discourse Analysis and Pragmatics, Contemporary Stylistics, and Principles and Practice in English Language Teaching (lectures and seminars).
I have extensive experience teaching English for Academic Purposes (EAP), Business English, General English, and Cambridge Exams in international contexts. Additionally, I served as an official TEFL examiner at the Oxford International Test Centre (OITC).
I hold a PhD (Applied Linguistics, 2018) and an MA (Applied Linguistics, 2010) from the University of Sussex. My further professional qualifications include CELTA and the English Lecture Training Program (University of Sussex).

Research
Overview
My research interests include discourse analysis of spoken and written educational discourse, contemporary stylistics, cognitive stylistics and linguistic pragmatics, English language teaching methodology, and material development for EAP and ESP. More recently, I have been researching feedback processes in higher education and strategies to engage postgraduate students in the feedback process. Currently, I am working on a research project exploring how critical thinking can be effectively embedded in postgraduate learning through module-specific tasks designed to enhance students’ critical thinking skills.
Teaching
Other teaching
I am the Academic and Communication Skills Development Lead for MSc Finance programmes and the Accounting and Management programme, providing embedded academic skills support to all students in these areas. I work closely with module and programme leaders to design, plan, and deliver programme-specific skills lectures, lead module-specific seminars and workshops, and offer additional support through academic skills tutorials, written feedback, and drop-in sessions.
