Rowan has a background in applied health and social care research and now works as a mixed methods researcher in the Social Policy Research Unit. She has a particular interest in research focussing on the different ways of supporting adults and older people with mental health needs, including dementia in the community, and has worked on several studies in this area during her time in the Personal Social Services Research Unit (PSSRU) at the University of Manchester.
Rowan is also interested in the roles and experiences of practitioners working in the health and social care sector. She is currently working on the PRESENCE study, which aims to understand what support older people who pay privately for their social care (self-funders) and their families value when navigating community social care, and the different approaches these groups of people take when making decisions.
Investigating the preferences and decisions of older self-funders of community social care as they navigate the system.
